(so he’d LOVE to reply but regrettably can’t)
maybe there was a wormhole that he stepped into
now he’s stuck in the past in 1342
plague is sweeping the world, everyone thinks they’re next
yet he’s frantically trying to send you a text
maybe he’s fighting spiders the size of a bin
or creating a potion for COVID-19
busy buying a castle with beautiful view
well or maybe — just maybe — he’s not into you.
when a boy’s into you, he’ll for sure find a way
he’ll create a smartphone out of paper and clay
he will send you a raven to make himself heard
he will try to contact you through the Ouija board
if his rocket is burning in outer space
he’ll crash next to your house to talk face to face
he will learn how to turn himself into a ghost
if it means he could hover above your bedpost
if he doesn’t — and if that’s what makes you upset —
there are boys in the world who know how to press ‘send’
just abandon this one and go look for the best
(and let lions and spiders take care of the rest).
